Eugene (Gene) Kennedy, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Over 15 years’ experience running clinical oncology and immuno-oncology trials in academic and industry roles.
Served as Chief Medical Officer of publicly traded rare disease company Lumos Pharma, and prior to that as Chief Medical Officer of publicly traded immuno-oncology focused company NewLink Genetics. In these roles, oversaw multiple biologic and small molecule product candidates in clinical trials ranging from first in human Phase 1 to pivotal Phase 3.
Previously, Associate Professor of Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and held leadership positions as Chief of the Section of Pancreaticobiliary Surgery and Co-Director of the Jefferson Pancreas, Biliary, and Related Cancers Center. Also held academic positions as Assistant Professor of Surgery at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and Instructor in Surgery at Johns Hopkins Medical Institution in Baltimore.
Dr. Kennedy completed postgraduate training in General Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and an immuno-oncology focused postdoctoral research fellowship at Johns Hopkins. Holds a B.A. from The University of Virginia Echols Scholars Program and an M.D. at The Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.
